Once again it's time for another CHIKARA show at the former ECW Arena. I got to see my pal Yolanda again and one of her pals. I guess the crowd was about 300 or so. I'm not good at estimating. Before the show I picked up the DVD's of "The Sordid Perils of Everyday Existence" from season finale weekend last year, "Passion and Persistence" since my brother hasn't seen it yet and "Young Lions Cup VI Night 3". Time for the main show!
CHIKARA "Tragedy and Triumph" live review
Eddie Kingston def. Lince Dorado
I was surprised to see this as the opener. This was a short match with mostly Eddie just beating up Lince. Eddie got the pin after the Backfist to the Future. As Eddie was walking up the ramp, Lince shouted that he isn't dead yet and wanted more, but Eddie refused. Good opener.
Ultimo Breakfast def. Jimmy Olsen by DQ
Another short match. I love Breakfast's mask. I'd buy one if they sold replicas. Also in his entrance, Breakfast had a belt with assorted breakfast items like bacon, eggs and bagels hanging from it which was pretty cool. I'm glad they chose and actual wrestler for Create-a-Wrestler besides a gimmick animal costume. This was a short, OK match. Jimmy is really rudo now and got disqualified for removing the mask of Ultimo Breakfast.
Gran Akuma, Icarus, Amasis and Ophidian def. Worker Ant, Soldier Ant, Player Uno and Stupefied
A fun atomicos match as expected. Early on Icarus was getting beat up and the crowd loved it. The rudos removed the pants of Player Uno, the ones with the pause button, and Uno was wearing Spongebob Squarepants boxers underneath. It would've been hilarious if he had Princess Peach boxers. Amasis then put on Uno's pants. Amasis started to climb to the top, but Stupefied was able to pause him so Amasis was stuck in the corner for the last half of the match. Icarus got the pin on Uno after a top-rope twisting pedigree (I think it's called the Burning Wings of Icarus). Uno accidentally hit Stupefied during the match, so after the match, Stupefied is really mad at Uno.
Larry Sweeney is now out for a promo. I guess he's face now which is awesome. He says that Mitch Ryder was wrong when Mitch called him a loser. Sweeney challenges Mitch to a match, I guess next month. Mitch then comes out says he needs a partner because Mitch wants to face him in a tag match.
Incognito def. Chuck Taylor
I usually don't like Incognito's matches and he gets crapped on a lot, but it was good and I enjoyed this match. Chuck actually did some serious wrestling and some flippy moves! Incognito gained the victory after a beautiful Spanish Fly. I didn't mind Incognito winning this match.
Shane Storm def. Mike Quackenbush by DQ
Storm is already getting crapped on and I love where his heel turn is going. Early in the match, they were brawling and Storm got back body dropped onto the ring steps which sounded absolutely brutal. This was a very good match with Storm working a knee that Quack hurt during the match. Moment of the night: Quack gave Storm the TIGER DRIVER 91!!! I went nuts for that. Quack followed up with the CHIKARA Special and made Storm tap out, however, Quack refused to break the hold which the referee reversed the decision.
Intermission time! I got to see Wiggly and he gave me some little buttons with the SWF and Wiggly logos. We also talked that CHIKARA is trying to bring in MsChif, but she has a tough travel schedule. It would be awesome if she wrestled in a CHIKARA ring and I think CHIKARA should be bringing in more females.
Vin Gerard def. Fire Ant to win the Young Lions Cup championship
A good match. I just find it a little odd that Vin wins it here instead of at Young Lions Cup, but ah well. Vin tried to pull an Eddie Guerrero and pretend to get hit with the trophy, but the ref didn't believe him. The ref was then distracted by The Colony at ringside, then Vin hit Fire Ant for real this time with the trophy to win it.
Tim Donst def. UltraMantis Black
Crossbones and Hydra were at ringside for this one. Crossbones kept tripping Donst's feet while Hydra was unsure what to do. Mantis held Donst and told Hydra to hit Donst with Mantis's skull staff, however, Donst moved out of the way and Mantis got hit. Nice match here with Donst getting the pin after The Donstitution. Post match, Mantis is really angry at Hydra. Mantis hits Hydra and Hydra hits him back in which Hydra starts to get jumped by both Mantis and Crossbones. Donst comes back to help Hydra fight off Mantis and Crossbones. Donst and Hydra apparently have 3 points to challenge for the tag titles, and a feud with Mantis and Crossbones seems obvious.
Brodie Lee def. Claudio Castagnoli in a No DQ match
Nice match here. Claudio did an awesome over-the-top-rope dive here. Mitch Ryder and Shayne Hawke interfered here to help Brodie get the victory. Here's something I thought I'd never see in CHIKARA: Mitch Ryder gave Claudio a fireball. That allowed Brodie to get the victory and The Fabulous Two are now allied with Brodie Lee.
Incoherence (Delirious and Hallowicked) def. The Fabulous Two (Mitch Ryder and Shayne Hawke) to retain the CHIKARA Campeonatos de Parejas
Good main event, but not as good as I thought it would be. The Fab Two won the first fall when Brodie came out and distracted the referee. Mitch was then able to foul Delirious and get a pinfall. Incoherence won the second fall after Hallowicked gave Shayne the Sky High. Incoherence then got the third and final fall when Delirious got a quick roll-up on Mitch. Underwhelming ending. I really thought that the Fab Two would win. Incoherence vs. Donst/Hydra should be a fun title defense.
All of the matches on this card were good. It's hard to pick a MOTN since none of them really stood out. I'd say Quack vs. Storm, Claudio vs. Brodie and the tag title match were the three best. I recommend this one since it's a good show from top to bottom. I'd get it just for Quack's Tiger Driver 91.
No pictures to show off. The TNA "Victory Road" PPV was being shown afterwards for free, but I didn't stay because it was TNA. Outside Vin Gerard was selling some H8x10's. I say you should go to Vin Gerard's MySpace and buy at least 7.
Stay tuned for the lucky 13th version of "Mike's Place For Words".

Five-Star Recap/Report~!
The reason they gave Vin Gerard the YLC this way is because the can say it doesn't really count because he didn't win the tournament. It goes with his uber-rudos persona.
