Welcome to a new "Mike's Place For Words" at the number of my favorite NFL player ever, Emmitt Smith, number 22! In this edition, I have a live review of the WSU (Women Superstars Uncensored) shows from October 11. Mel and his friend Steve decided to head up to Boonton, NJ and I went along up there with them, mostly because I wanted to meet Mercedes Martinez. This show was to crown the first WSU Tag Team Champions.

Boonton looked like a really nice town. The event is being held in a really old movie theater. I'm guessing it was built around 1950, probably earlier. I didn't get the name of the venue, but for now, I'm calling it WSU Arena. Inside is the most awkward set-up for a wrestling show I've ever seen. You walk up a ramp then climb up onto the stage where the ring is. There's 2 rows of seats on either side and only about a foot between the first row and the ring. Between about 10 feet of a slanted stage there's the movie theater type seats. In the back corner is the merch area and the entrance way. A made a little sketch if you don't like my description. The ring looked really bad. It looked like it would fall apart at any moment *cough* foreshadowing *cough*. We sat by a few fans that made jokes at one annoying fan and they made my night more entertaining. Attendance was about 100, maybe less.

According to Mel, the last show he went to wasn't all that great, so I wasn't expecting too much from this one. Most of the girls I didn't know. I know that Mercedes Martinez and Malia Hosaka are good, I've seen Amy Lee and Annie Social before, and I assume Angel Orsini was good since she's the champion. All of them worked hard, made a few mistakes here and there, but it turned out better than I thought it would be. I'm sure if this promotion ran near Philadelphia, the crowd would be relentless. All of the matches were OK, so I'm not going to write much with the match results. I didn't write down notes like I usually do, so I had to wait until I found the results were posted somewhere, hence why I didn't put this blog up right away. Here's Mel's review of the show as well.

WSU 10/11 live review

Amy Lee and Missy Sampson w/ Alere Little Feather def. Lea Morrison and Little Jeanne
Amy Lee is great on the mic, but can get way too explicit. I guess that's why they call it Women Superstars Uncensored. According to Mel, Lea is only 17. At the last WSU show Mel attended, the bottom rope broke. Guess what happened here? The bottom rope broke!. After the match, the guys came out and used an elastic band and duct tape to hold it.

Malia Hosaka and Miss April def. The Soul Sisters (Jana and Latasha)
Malia was very good as expected and the crowd fell in love with Miss April, including me. She's very lovely and wrestled very well. I'm reading the results and it says that she's from the ACE Wrestling School. I'd say in about 2 years, maybe less, Miss April will show up in SHIMMER.

Annie Social and Roxxie Cotton def. Melissa Coates and Trixie Lynn
Roxxie was pretty good. Annie was basically wrestling in a bikini that the guys by me had a lot to say about.

Mercedes Martinez came out and said that her partner got jumped and couldn't compete tonight. Then Angel Orsini came out. She had a mystery partner and she chose Mercedes.

Mercedes Martinez and Angel Orsini def. Gorgeous George and Bobcat
Angel was good, as I assumed she would be. It was strange because Angel was the only person on the show who heeled it up. I don't know how George even wrestled. She was in high heels and was smiling the whole time. Most awkward spot of the night: George and Bobcat go for a double-team clothesline on Angel. All of a sudden they stopped and it looked like they were going to give her an STO or something. Then Angel just falls over. Mel and I dubbed it "The double-team clothesline of doom". Little Jeanne came out and got the pin, and I guess she's Angel's partner instead.

Missy Hyatt came out and introduced Molly Holly. Molly put over WSU and Cindy Rogers. Cindy came out and said she's recovering from injury and will be back in the future.

Annie Social and Roxxie Cotton def. Malia Hosaka and Miss April
This match was win-win for me. Annie put on pants this time. Roxxie made April tap out to the Crippler Crossface.

Amy Lee and Missy Sampson w/ Alere Little Feather def. Angel Orsini and Little Jeanne.
This was mostly them brawling through the movie theater seats. I was hoping for Amy Lee to do a shooting star press off a balcony or something.

Intermission time. April walked by me at one point and said "Hi" to me, but I was trying to find Mel so I didn't get a chance to talk to here then. Here's where the fun stuff begins. In the back corner of the theater is a small area with a meet and greet type thing going on. Holy fire hazard Batman, there's all of these people trying to get into a very small room area to get autographs and such. First, I got Malia Hosaka to sign my SHIMMER roster album and I got an 8x10 as well.

Now I got to meet Mercedes Martinez. If you've read this blog for a while, you've know that I made the intro graphic for her website, www.TheLatinaSensation.com. I finally got to meet her and she was a sweetheart. She signed my SHIMMER album as well.

I bought a Lea Morrison autograph because she's so cute, I just had to. I got an autograph from Molly Holly as well. That was all I got for now. I couldn't find Miss April or Roxxie Cotton anywhere.

Malia Hosaka def. Miss April
April challenged Malia, the 21-year veteran to a match. I enjoyed this match. Please more Miss April in WSU and any other promotion in my area.

Bobcat won a Battle Royal including Mercedes Martinez, Jana, Latasha, Trixie Lynn, Melissa Coates, Lea Morrison and Little Jeanne
I feared the worst for this since there's 1 foot of clearance around the ring for the girls to be thrown out. It wasn't over-the-top-rope elimination, just if you get eliminated if you get thrown out of the ring. It looked like Lea took a nasty bump when she got eliminated. Bobcat last eliminated Mercedes to earn a title shot in the main event.

Annie Social and Roxxie Cotton def. Amy Lee and Missy Sampson w/ Alere Little Feather to become the first WSU Tag Team Champions
Nice story in this match as both Annie and Roxxie tried to take out Amy Lee. If I remember correctly, somebody rolled up Missy Sampson for the win.

Angel Orsini def. Bobcat to retain the WSU Championship
This match became No DQ with Molly Holly as the special referee, but nothing No DQ really happened besides a table getting set up. Angel go
t the win with the reverse STO I think.

After the match, Mercedes jumped Angel and gave her the fisherman buster through the table! That was a really cool spot. Mercedes challenged Angel to a cage match at the next show in January. I don't know how they're going to fit a cage in there.

After the show, I got a pic with Roxxie Cotton and her WSU Tag Team Championship belt.

We were close to leaving, but as we left we saw Miss April! Mel and I quick got pics with her. I told her how great she was and she was really nice.

For now, I would like to be able to go to the next show. Taylor Wilde (Shantelle Taylor) and Awesome Kong will be there. I hope more big names get announced and I really, really hope Miss April is there again.

This blog turned out longer than I thought it would be. The next blog will be a live review from CHIKARA's "Global Gauntlet Night 2". I look forward to seeing all of the guys from Big Japan and all of my friends there. See you next time.

Nice Review and pics. I think I took a couple of them. And based on that sketch of the arena, you should apply to the art school!
