Hi friends. It's been almost a month since I've delivered a new one, but I am still alive and I'm just going to post this short, half-assed one just for the sake of posting. This time I got a review of the newest Friday the 13th film and a review of Onslaught on the WiiWare. I need to expand my readership, so tell your friends about this here site. Join the Facebook group, too. It's lonely over there. I'm also going to make a special email address to leave feedback and stuff. Shall we get going?
Friday the 13th review
I was somewhat looking forward to this movie since it was a reset on the franchise and I've never seen any of the Friday the 13th movies. I did see Freddy vs. Jason which was meh, as the kidz say.
It opens with the "origin" of Jason where he sees his mother get beheaded via machete. And that's all the back story we get. No explanations in this movie. For someone like me who doesn't know anything about the franchise, I would like to know why he seems superhuman and murders everybody in his path (I know for revenge, but still).
If you're like me and enjoy creative, mindless violence, then you'll like this movie. This whole movie is basically killing with no story. The kills were the only entertaining thing from this movie. Overall, this movie isn't very good. Wait for it to show up on HBO.
Onslaught review
Before I start this review, time to be the over 9000th person to talk about the Wii storage issue. I've never been one to complain about storage on the Wii because I transfer the games I don't use to an SD card. If you want people to be able to download games on your system, make them have the room to do so!
With that, I had the room to download Onslaught on my Wii. It's a first-person shooter where you go down around and shoot aliens. I'm quite surprised they were able to make this game downloadable. I decided to get this since it was one of few games reviewed a 9 out of 10 or higher at WiiWare World.
The thing I really like about this game is great use of the Wii motion controls. You can wipe off the goo on your screen with the nunchuk and reload by shaking the Wiimote. The only troubles I have is you have to point with the Wiimote to where you want to go, then use the control stick to move around.
From what I've played, I have enjoyed it. Only negative is the graphics aren't very good. If you can clear off storage room on your Wii, give it a shot for only $10.
March is going to be a busy month for me. I've got jury duty for the first time in my life and King of Trios 2009. Also potential video game purchases such as MadWorld, Guitar Hero: Metallica and Legends of WrestleMania. The next DLC for Fallout 3 will also be arriving as well as some DLC for SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 with Evan Bourne! Last but not least, the Watchmen movie is coming soon!
The next edition of MPFW will be a Watchmen special edition featuring a review of the film, and if I enjoy the demo and decide to purchase it, a review of Watchmen: The End is Nigh on the XBLA. I'll most likely end up buying it anyway. Stay tuned!
