Hey everyone! Here it is, my live review of CHIKARA's "Style and Substance" featuring a steel cage match main event! Both of my brothers went and we got to see Yolanda and some of her family. The were unable to open the garage door because it was apparently stuck. However, they couldn't get it open because it was locked from the outside!

Once inside, I bought the DVD of "Vanity and Violence" since I missed that show as well as Best Of DVD's of Claudio Castagnoli and Delirious made by Smart Mark Video. I didn't take any notes because I was lazy this time, so I'm going to do this and try to remember as much as I can. It's hot as hell in the arena and no guardrails this time. Here we go!

CHIKARA "Style and Substance" live review

Gran Akuma and Chuck Taylor def. Fire Ant and Worker Ant
Worker Ant now has Stan Hansen incorporated into his gimmick. Nice lucha stuff to start off and a nice opener. Chuck gets the pin on Fire after the Omega Driver.

Lince Dorado def. Eddie Kingston by DQ
Crowd is firmly behind Kingston because we all want to see Lince get the living daylights knocked out of him. Kingston is just stiffing the heck out of Lince then hit him with two consecutive spinning backfists. Kingston went for the pin, but pulled up Lince right before three. Referee Bryce Remsberg calls for a DQ for excessive punishment, however, Lince wants Bryce to restart the match anyway. So the match is restarted, more Kingston mauling Lince then fouls him with a kick to the groin and gets DQ'd. Nice, brutal match.

Super Smash Bros. (Player Uno and Player Dos) def. The Fabulous Two (Mitch Ryder and Buck Hawke)
I brought a Super Mario coin block to give to Player Uno, so for now, he used it during the entrance and a little during the match. Mitch Ryder seems to be putting on some weight. Player Uno put a cartridge of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into Player Dos's tights. Player Dos was glitching, so Uno took at the cartridge and blew on it. Hilarious. Later on, Buck Hawke removed the cartridge. Boooo. Nice back and forth stuff here and the Super Smash Bros. get the pin after Pac-Man Fever on Buck! Smash Bros. now have 3 points!!!

Jimmy Olsen is out now and says that he doesn't want to wrestle Soldier Ant as advertised. Apparently he's been ripping off masks because Vin Gerard told him that Colin Olsen was now wrestling with a mask. That's untrue because now Colin is back from his stint with WWE. Colin says that he didn't Jimmy the truth because he wanted what was best for Jimmy. Vin Gerard and Shane Storm and Colin starts to beat up Jimmy. Lince Dorado (Jimmy's partner from the previous night) comes to to aid Jimmy, but gets jumped as well. The trio of Vin, Shane and Colin are now known as The UnStable.

Delirious, Hallowicked, Hydra and Helios def. UltraMantis Black, Crossbones and The Best Around (TJ Cannon and Bruce Maxwell)
Hydra is now wearing the greatest tights I have ever seen: Two tickets on one side and a gun that reads "Gun show" on the other side. Before the match, Hydra is posing off and Delirious says "Our partner is awesome!" This seemed like a short match, but very fast-paced. Everyone hits their signature moves including Crossbones giving Helios the stiffest dragon kick ever. Delirious rolled up TJ Cannon for the win.

Colin Delaney def. Soldier Ant
I'm not sure whether he's being called Colin Olsen or Delaney, so I'll just stick with Delaney. Short match, crowd is getting tired at this point, but Colin is getting good heel heat. Colin wins via The FU. I thought it would've been funnier if he did the World's Strongest Slam.

The Osirian Portal def. Cheech and Cloudy
Cheech and Cloudy are back with a new surfer gimmicks. Fun match here. Cheech at one point had both Portal members in a Gory special and surfboard at the same time. Portal got the win after the top-turnbuckle "Can You Dig It?!" splashes. I hope Cheech and Cloudy are back on the full-time roster again.

Larry Sweeney def. Icarus
Icarus comes out in a DX shirt and does a Triple H water spit entrance. LLLLLLLOUSY! Larry Sweeney as a face is great. This was really, really short with Sweeney winning with a rollup and a handful of tights.

Vin Gerard and STIGMA def. Mike Quackenbush and Tim Donst
Shane Storm will now be known as STIGMA. Tim Donst busted out the lucha early on. Quack's knee was getting worked a lot in this match and Vin made him pass out to the STF. Good match. Afterwards, The UnStable continues to attack Quack, but Jigsaw (sans mask) runs out for the save! Jigsaw goes to shake Quack's hand, but he refuses and Jigsaw leaves through the arena entrance.

Finally it's intermission time! They're setting up the cage now. The team accepting for The Global Gauntlet is Big Japan Pro Wrestling. I don't know anybody from there, but I hope it's going to be great.

I was able to give Player Uno the coin block now and he loved it. I also got to chat with Wiggly and Yolanda a little bit. I went an got an autographed photo of TJ Cannon and Bruce Maxwell. The show is about to start back up again and they showed a nice video package of the history of the Brodie Lee-Claudio Castagnoli feud. Main event time!!!

Claudio Castagnoli def. Brodie Lee in a Steel Cage Match
This match was great. Crowd was a little dead at the beginning, probably from a long first half and the heat. Both guys are throwing each other into the cage. Brodie gets thrown into it at one point and starts bleeding in the forehead and elbow. Some close finishes and Brodie calls for Buck Hawke in the back. Buck tries to give Brodie a chain, but is chased away by Larry Sweeney. Brodie Lee gets knocked down and Claudio begins to climb the cage. Claudio then delivers a flying European uppercut from the top of the cage!! Holy crap! Claudio then gives him the Ricola Bomb, but he picks him up higher and delivers it like a Razor's Edge. Claudio wins!!!

Great show overall. My pick so far for best CHIKARA show this year and Brodie vs. Claudio is definitely a MOTYC. Get the DVD when it comes out. After the show I got a Colin Delaney autograph.

That's all for now. The next one will probably be a live review of the Velocity Pro and Ring of Honor doubleheader, unless I squeeze one in before it. Later!
