CHIKARA "Young Lions Cup VII Night 3" live review
Dasher Hatfield, Player Uno and Yellow Dog def. KC "Cloudy" Day, Tim Donst and Hydra
Create-A-Wrestler has taken the identity of Dasher Hatfield, a baseball character who is quite over with the crowd. Really fun stuff from him including arguing with the referee a la Lou Piniella. Fun match with DH hitting the Grand Slam on Hydra. Post match, Tim Donst finally snaps and turns on Hydra.
The Roughnecks (Brodie Lee and Grizzly Redwood) def. The Northstar Express (Darin Corbin and Ryan Cruz)
Really fun match. The usual trying-to-take-down-Brodie stuff. Roughnecks get the win with a axe-handle doomsday device, earning them their third point towards the Campeonatos de Parejas.
Gran Akuma and Icarus def. UltraMantis Black and Delirious, Soldier Ant and Green Ant, and Chiva V and Halcon Guerrero in a 4-Way Tag Team Elimination Match
Oh my. Let's just say that Halcon Guerrero isn't all that great and this match wasn't all that fantastic. UltraMantis Black does everyone a favor and eliminates the luchador team with the Cosmic Doom on Halcon. Delirious then eliminates the Colony team with the Praying Mantis Bomb on Green Ant. A man all in white (Sort of like Altair from Assassin's Creed) came to the ring with a present distracting Mantis. This allowed Gran Akuma to school boy Mantis earning F.I.S.T. the victory and their third point. According to the internet, inside the present was a note reading "A war is coming".
Mascarita Dorado def. Pierrothito
Really interesting match that turned out quite good. Really cool to see Mascarita wrestle live. Really cool stuff from him including this awesome headscissors thing he did which I cannot describe. Mascarita wins with some sort of pin if I remember correctly, as CHIKARA's official results call it "Pequete Dorada".
Then intermission happened.
Mike Quackenbush and Jorge "Skayde" Rivera def. Turbo and Frightmare
Great lucha stuff going on in this match. I remember that Turbo was great the first time I saw him live. This time, he's even better. Great match. Quack nails Turbo with the QuackenDriver (Iconoclasm) for the victory.
Claudio Castagnoli def. Eddie Kingston via Countout
Good match, but I enjoyed their encounter from "Aniversario Yang" a lot better. Eddie goes for a dive on the outside onto Claudio, but Claudio moves out of the way. Claudio gets back into the ring at 18, and Kingston is counted out. There's much controversy coming from this since the countout wasn't restarted as Kingston left the ring.
The team of Fire Ant, Hallowiced, Arik Cannon def. The team of Vin Gerard, STIGMA, Chuck Taylor and the team of Jimmy "Equinox" Olsen, Jigsaw, Helios in the Golden Dream Triangle Match
This match was a-mazing. My MOTN. The ring actually broke from all the action going on. A lot of fast-paced stuff going on along with the usual CHIKARA wackiness. Scary moment when Fire Ant is launched to the outside and lands on the guardrail causing a significant bend. Thankfully he was alright. Hallowicked gets the victory for his team when he pins STIGMA after a super fisherman buster.
Player Dos def. Colin Delaney to win Young Lions Cup VII
Good match, but nothing really fantastic. Colin uses some WWE moves including the GTS and Randy Orton's punt of death. Really anticlimactic finish to this match with the "Super Plancha", a very underwhelming move. I would've been happy with either man winning. Player Dos is your new Young Lions Cup champion!
Overall, an OK CHIKARA show. I would've liked to seen some of the outside entrants from this year's Young Lions Cup like El Leonino or Shane Hollister or Stinky the Homeless Guy compete on this night. The only match really worth seeing from this show was the Golden Dream match.I'll catch you all later. Remember, next week begins the finals of Loteria Letal: Video Game Edition!!
